For the 2023/24 financial year (starting in July 2023) the council is making a one-off rates remission (reduction) of up to $500 available for households facing a rates rise higher than $700.

The latest Te Hononga a Hapori Community Link(PDF, 2MB) includes a call to Whanganui residents to complete the council’s 2024 Community Views Survey, a presentation on the historic ship Edwin Fox is happening at the Alexander Heritage and Research Library on 7 April, applications have opened for New Zealand Glassworks’ artist-in-residence programme, Whanganui River Enhancement Trust funding applications are open until the end of April, and there’s still time to register items for disposal as part of the council’s Hazardous Household Waste Day.
