Following Cyclone Gabrielle, several roads remain closed in the Whanganui district.  

Unsettled weather, including patches of rain, is expected in the district over the next several days.

If your property has been affected by the weather, or you see damage to public spaces, please call the council on 06 349 0001. And always call triple one (111) if you need an emergency response from Police, Fire or Ambulance.

ROADING UPDATE

Roads now open:

  • Rangitatau East Road is now open.
  • Kauangaroa Road is now open.

Roads still closed:

  • Mangamahu Road is still closed (past the Mangamahu township).
  • SH4 between Raetihi and Upokongaro is still closed.

New road closures:

  • Kauarapaoa Road closed.
  • Creek Road closed.
  • Te Rimu Road closed.
