To help meet the cost of running the Splash Centre, admission fees are going up for the first time in seven years.

The cost per entry will be increased by 50 cents.

This is the first time there has been a price increase since April 2008, when the recreational side of the centre was opened.

The complex is managed by Sport Whanganui and the cost is met by Wanganui District Council funding from rates across the community and by the entry fee charged to users.

The new prices, effective from 1 July 2015, are:

Adult - $5.00
Community Services Card holder - $4.50
Student (with ID) - $4.50
Senior - $3.50
Child (5-16) - $3.50
Preschooler - $1.50
Aqua Aerobics - $5.00
50s Forward Classes - $5.00

There will be an increase of 50 cents per entry for green prescription users.
