The declaration of result for the Whanganui District Council elections is now available on the Whanganui District Council website and the Vote Whanganui website.

The final result is based upon the counting of 100% of ordinary votes and includes special votes.

The final voter return has been declared at 46.44% being 15,611 votes, excluding special votes.

Andrew Tripe has been elected Mayor.

The elected councillors are (in alphabetical order of surname): Charlie Anderson, Philippa Baker-Hogan, Glenda Brown, Josh Chandulal-Mackay, Helen Craig, Jenny Duncan, Ross Fallen, Kate Joblin, Michael Law, Charlotte Melser, Peter Oskam and Rob Vinsen.

Peter Oskam has been successfully elected to Whanganui District Council, creating a vacancy in the Whanganui subdivision for the Whanganui Rural Community Board. A by-election for this seat will be held in early 2023.

The other members of the rural community board were elected unopposed, as the number of candidates did not exceed the number of vacancies.
