Whanganui District Library Te Whare Pukapuka o Whanganui is now offering patrons thousands of online courses – for free.

More than 16,000 courses are available to library patrons through LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com).

Whanganui District Library’s learning and discovery librarian, Rachel Smith, says all you need to access the platform for free are your library card and pin number.

“You don’t have to visit the library – you can do it from your own home. These courses are ideal for businesses who want to upskill their staff, or individuals who want to keep their skills current.”

Rachel Smith says the courses are mostly delivered in a video format and are self-paced.

“There are courses in almost any subject you can imagine, from marketing to creative writing, electronics to coding.

“They are taught by industry experts and cover all levels, from beginner to advanced.”

A LinkedIn Learning membership usually costs $20 per month.

Rachel Smith says the library decided to offer the LinkedIn Learning platform because there was a demand for it.

“We’re really pleased to be able to offer these courses to our patrons. It means that anyone in Whanganui has access to world-class expertise in almost any subject.”
