The Council has reviewed the Gambling Venues Policy, proposing to retain the existing “sinking lid“ policy and make minor changes to the drafting to improve its clarity and usability.
Whanganui District Council is required to review its Gambling Venues Policy every three years from the date on which it was enacted.
The proposed changes to the drafting of the policy include:
- typographical fixes
- redrafting the policy to update its format
- adding definitions of “new venue” and “existing venue”
- requiring merging and relocating clubs to surrender existing venue licenses
The council does not propose any changes to the rules relating to gambling venues within Whanganui.
Options
Option 1
Retain the Gambling Venues Policy (status-quo)
Under this option, the council would retain the existing Gambling Venues Policy.
