Are you considering standing for Whanganui District Council or the Whanganui Rural Community Board in this year’s local elections?

If so, come along to an information evening for potential candidates on Wednesday, 29 May 2019 from 6.00pm-7.00pm in the Whanganui War Memorial Centre’s Pioneer Room.

Council staff will give brief presentations and the Council’s Electoral Officer Noeline Moosman will be available to answer questions.

Noeline Moosman says this is the first of two candidate meetings, with the next to be held in July.

“It’s a great opportunity to find out more about the process of standing and to answer any questions potential candidates may have. We will also have information about the Council’s policy regarding election signs.”

If you’re interested in attending this event, please RSVP to the Council’s Governance Team by email to: governance@whanganui.govt.nz or call (06) 349 0001 extn 3003.

This year’s local elections will be held on Saturday, 12 October 2019. Candidate nominations open on Friday, 19 July and close on Friday, 16 August 2019.
