For the 2023/24 financial year (starting in July 2023) the council is making a one-off rates remission (reduction) of up to $500 available for households facing a rates rise higher than $700.

Originally scheduled to be held on the Whanganui River bank, the event will now be held at the Whanganui War Memorial Centre. The event includes a stage for performers – traditional dance, music, martial arts and traditional Chinese hanging lanterns and the culturally significant gesture of releasing wax-coated floating lanterns (candles) on our Whanganui River.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available to purchase. A night of exciting cultural entertainment and magical family time!
