For the 2023/24 financial year (starting in July 2023) the council is making a one-off rates remission (reduction) of up to $500 available for households facing a rates rise higher than $700.

The Wanganui East Pool is closing from Sunday, March 15, following a successful summer season.
The Wanganui District Council and the Wanganui East Pool Trust would like to thank the individuals, schools and families who visited the pool.
Mayor Annette Main says she hopes people enjoyed the facility throughout the summer and she is looking forward to seeing people back in late 2015 for the next swimming season.
“It was great to see families and individuals at the pool on the hot summer days we got over this season. We would also like to thank the pool staff who have done a great job and have made everyone feel welcome.”
