Volunteer Whanganui and Wanganui District Council are now inviting nominations for the 2014 Volunteer (Kaituao) Awards.
The awards have three categories – individual, team and youth individual.
“This is a great opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the contributions that volunteers make to our community,” Mayor Annette Main said.
“There are many people and groups who deserve recognition for all they do to support others and enhance our district. I encourage everyone to think about the volunteers they know and to nominate them for the awards.”
Sandra Rickey, Manager Volunteer Whanganui, said: “As volunteers work of their own free will, we aim to educate the public that whilst their work is unpaid, it is the incredible impact and difference that they make that improves our community. We promote their value through recognition events and awareness opportunities such as these.”
Nomination forms are available from Volunteer Whanganui’s office in Community House (Room 106, 60 Ridgway Street) or email whanganuivolunteercentre@xtra.co.nz.
Nominations close on May 30 and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on June 19.
