Julie Herewini

Māori ward councillor

Cr Julie Herewini

Ngāti Rangi, Te Āti Haunui-ā-Pāpārangi

I am proud to be elected as a Māori Ward councillor for this district. My husband Karney and I have been married almost 20 years, raised four of our tamariki in Whanganui and have our first mokopuna.

I’m deeply committed to the people of our rohe, having had the privilege of guidance from regional leaders who embody the values of our Maunga and Awa.

These values — and the belief that the wellbeing of our people and our place are inseparable — led me to stand for the Māori Ward.

I believe the choices we make today shape the future for our tamariki and mokopuna. I will be a strong advocate, not only for Māori, but for all who call this place home. I will serve with integrity and champion meaningful, effective, and smarter solutions that meet our district’s long-term needs. It is an honour to represent you at the council table.
