Learn what it means for Whanganui
We’re constructing a new sealed parallel taxiway at Whanganui Airport to enhance safety, efficiency, and capacity for aircraft movements. This all-weather taxiway will enable 24/7 operations, improving overall airport functionality.
During construction, there may be temporary changes to aircraft taxi routes and runway access points. We’ll minimise disruptions and provide advance notice of any major changes.
Safety is our priority. The project will follow strict safety protocols and meet all aviation and construction standards to ensure the well-being of workers and airport operations.
The contractor selected for the construction of the sealed parallel taxiway is Fulton Hogan, a reputable civil contractor with experience in airport infrastructure. The contractor will be responsible for the execution of all works, including site preparation, earthworks, asphalt paving, and the installation of aviation-grade markings and lighting systems.
