The Whanganui Alliance is applying a new chipseal surface to four roads across Whanganui, with work expected to begin on Monday, 19 October 2026 until 23 October, 7.00am-5.00pm.
These works are part of the council’s annual resurfacing programme.
What’s happening?
We’re applying a new chipseal surface to improve the condition of these roads. Some noise, vibration and dust may be experienced during the work, particularly during compaction.
Traffic and access
Stop/go traffic management will be in place to keep contractors, road users and residents safe. Please allow a little extra time for your travel. Residents and businesses will continue to have access.
Please keep vehicles off the street during the scheduled work period. For everyone’s safety, children should keep clear of the work area and remain within property boundaries wherever possible.
Post-sweeping may be carried out approximately 48 hours after the chipseal is laid to remove excess loose chip.
This work is weather-dependent. If conditions are unsuitable or unforeseen circumstances arise, the work will be postponed to the next suitable day. Thanks for your patience.
