As we move into spring, our focus as the Whanganui Alliance* is shifting firmly towards our reseal season and the commencement of our asphalt programme, which begins in October.
With improving weather conditions, our pavement renewal programme is now underway, with cement stabilisation and pavement dig-outs occurring across the rural network. In urban areas, our crews will be carrying out kerb and channel repairs, along with service lid adjustments in preparation for upcoming resurfacing works.
Pre-Surface repairs – focus areas
Our pre-surfacing programme is focused on ensuring pavements are in the best possible condition ahead of resealing and asphalt works. Activities include pavement dig-outs, cement stabilisation, service lid adjustments, and kerb and channel repairs.
The primary focus areas for these activities this month are:
- Rangitatau West Road area
- Okoia area
- Brunswick area
- Gonville
- City central
Drainage maintenance
Drainage maintenance remains a key priority as we prepare the network for the wetter months ahead. Subsoil cleaning, culvert repairs, and culvert renewals are scheduled in the following locations:
- Durie Vale
- Brunswick area
- Whanganui River Road area
- Springvale
Footpaths and cyclic maintenance
- A significant programme of footpath upgrades is continuing across several locations throughout the district.
- Routine cyclic maintenance activities will also continue across both the urban and rural network.
