Work currently under way on Taupo Quay will include some changes at the intersection of Taupo Quay and Victoria Avenue.

“We want to reassure the community that traffic will still be able to turn left from Taupo Quay on to the City Bridge,” Infrastructure Manager Mark Hughes said.

“There will be changes to the traffic lanes on Taupo Quay where there are currently three lanes for traffic heading from Aramoho to the city. The left-hand lane will become an extended kerb, while the current middle lane will be a straight-ahead and left-turn lane. The current right-turn lane will remain as it is.

“Unfortunately, there has been some confusion about the removal of the left lane, with some people misinterpreting this as preventing a left-turn on to the bridge. That is not the case – we are simply changing the intersection lane markings and they will be similar to many of the other intersections in the city.”
