Wanganui District Council is assuring residents that they are not required to pay for repairs to inground services outside their boundaries.
“The Council takes care of all inground services, including sewage, stormwater and potable water networks, up to the boundary of private properties,” Infrastructure Manager Mark Hughes said.
“We are aware that some residents are concerned that they may be responsible for repair costs following recent publicity about some councils which charge residents for repairs to inground services on public land.
“We want to reassure our community that our Council does not charge residents for work outside private property boundaries and there are no plans to change that practice.”
