Rain impact on roads

Persistent rain over the weekend has had additional impact on the Wanganui District roading network.

• Kai Iwi Valley Road is closed. Attempts to open access over the weekend were hampered by material on surrounding steep farmland continually sliding on to the road.
• Watershed Road is closed due to a number of slips.
• Further slips occurred on Whanganui River Road and Rangiora Road. However, access for residents has been restored.

All roads remain slippery with any significant rain. Please drive carefully and to the conditions.
