The PopUp Business School Aotearoa is ready to kick off in Whanganui. The booked out ten-day course will start on Monday, February 12 and runs through to Friday, February 23, with workshops that include practical sessions and guest speakers from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm each day.

Whanganui & Partners has played a key role in bringing this opportunity to Whanganui, in partnership with the Māori business network, Te Manu Atatu and sponsor, Xero. It will be hosted at the Innovation Quarter in St Hill Street.

Whanganui & Partners Strategic Lead for Innovation, Rene Olmos says, “This ten-day course will teach participants how to create a website for free, sell their product and negotiate and navigate the legal side of starting a business. As a result, 45 people will leave this course prepared to turn their dream into a real, profit-making business.”

Mr Olmos says “We are extremely excited for the next two weeks, where we’ll see local residents become local entrepreneurs with the tools for success. This event is a big win for Whanganui and will play a big part in our continued growth.”

Te Manu Atatu Network Facilitator, Lisa Chase says, “We have ten inspiring and experienced local business owners sharing their insights into the challenges and success of owning and operating a local, national and international business.”

“As Whanganui’s Maori Business Network, Te Manu Atatū provides attendees with their networks, mentoring and support after completing the course and developing their business idea."

Mayor Hamish McDouall says “The PopUp Business School offers a great opportunity for Whanganui and its local entrepreneurs. We can’t wait to see the exciting new businesses that might emerge from this event.”
