Whanganui & Partners is excited to announce a new Board of Directors to help lead economic development in the Whanganui District.

Susanne Clay, Myles Fothergill, Gerard Quinn, Tania King, Jonathan Russell, Rory Smith and Pahia Turia have been appointed, joined by Tamahau Rowe as kauhautū to represent iwi.

Whanganui District Council Chief Executive Kym Fell says the seven newly-appointed directors were selected based on the skills, knowledge and experience required to encourage growth across Whanganui.

“The newly-elected Whanganui District Council has indicated clearly that economic development requires a bigger profile and that strategies, resources and initiatives are needed to continue the work that Whanganui & Partners has achieved over the last couple of years.

“The new directors on the Whanganui & Partners Board have had experience in previous economic development roles, events, innovation start-ups, agronomics and biosciences, branding and advertising, tourism, management and governance.”

Two of the seven directors, Jonathan Russell and Gerard Quinn, do not live in Whanganui.

Gerard Quinn, who has extensive experience in economic development in Canterbury and Wellington, lives in Wellington while Jonathan, who has family connections with Whanganui and led the new brand development for Whanganui, is based in China.

Susanne Clay and her partner recently moved to Whanganui from Auckland.
