The government has asked councils to look at how they can merge with others.
Learn what it means for Whanganui
Next date: Monday, 13 July 2026 | 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Come along to one of our Head Start community kōrero sessions and have your say on the future of local government in Whanganui.
The government wants to simplify local government and has asked councils for proposals on how they could merge. This is a chance to drop in to chat with councillors and council staff about what we've heard from our community so far and where Whanganui is at with this.
No need to register – just come along to whichever session suits you:
Monday 13 July: Nagaizumi Cho meeting room, 101 Guyton Street, Whanganui District Council, 11am-12pm Wednesday 15 July: Gonville Library, 2pm-3pm Thursday 16 July: Hakeke Street Community Centre, 4:30pm-5:30pm
