Kia Ora
I am pleased to represent you on the Whanganui District Council as a Māori ward councillor. I was born and bred in Whanganui. My whakapapa connections are Atihau, Nga Rauru, Nga Wairiki Ngati Apa and Taranaki.
My career spans 30 years in health and social service development, both mainstream and in non-governmental organisations. My experience covers a range of roles, from practitioner to managerial and governance. My passion, however, is community development from the grassroots up.
My active involvement within the Māori world and tribal development - both at marae and governance levels - will help the council to forge a collective direction that serves all Whanganui residents. My work in Awa Tupua legislation and post-treaty settlement are examples. Whanganui District Council will help enable this work to continue and I look forward to contributing.
I also look forward to contributing to housing, healthy communities and economic development.
