Whanganui needs strong, stable, experienced leadership to keep our positive momentum and move confidently into our future.
During my mayoralty in 2022-2025, the council was unified throughout local government’s toughest challenges. We delivered New Zealand’s lowest average rates rise of 2.2%. We invested more in infrastructure (pipes, roads, footpaths) and paid off additional debt.
During this new term, we will keep rate increases low, cut red tape and fast-track building consents. We will grow Whanganui’s economy by launching a local School of Design & Technology, exploring options to reduce power costs, attract new industry and support community projects.
We will continue to pursue an Air Chathams Christchurch route and the transition of their headquarters to Whanganui.
Supported by my wife Carolyn, our family and community, I am proud to serve once again as your mayor. I will continue to lead with energy, maturity and passion. Let’s keep Whanganui moving forward.
