The water main on Somme Parade provides the water supply to surrounding residents and also contributes to other Aramoho areas. The current 205m water main on Somme Parade (from Brunswick Road to Field Street) has almost reached its end-of-life service, so there is a need to replace this section to ensure the normal water supply for the Aramoho area.
More than 200m of 150 mm PVC-M pipeline will be installed in the replacement section from Brunswick Road to Field Street. At the same time the water main is replaced, GasNet will replace 260m of gas main (150 mm PE) to reduce costs and minimise future disruptions.
This project was originally scheduled as part of the accelerated procurement programme (2023-24 annual plan projects).
This project will benefit the Aramoho area by providing:
A 30 km/h speed limit will be in place between Brunswick Road and Field Street. Traffic management will be in place, including pedestrian controls, to ensure both lanes remain open.
When work gets underway at the intersection of Somme Parade and Field Street, Field Street access will be for residents only.
