As we move away from our winter maintenance activities, our focus is shifting towards preparations for the upcoming reseal season. With improving weather conditions, crews are now able to begin turfing (removal of high shoulders) and water tabling (drainage clearing) across the rural network. In urban areas, crews will be undertaking kerb and channel repairs, along with raising manholes in areas programmed for resealing.
Pre-surface repairs begin with turfing, followed by water tabling. While plant and resources are in the area, crews will also complete pavement dig-outs and cement stabilisation works. These repairs will then be sealed with a first coat chip seal to protect the pavement ahead of the reseal programme. The primary focus areas for these activities this month are the Rangitatau West Road and Okoia areas.
Drainage maintenance remains a key priority, with culvert repairs and replacements scheduled in the Parapara, Field Track, Brunswick and Mangamahu areas.
A significant programme of footpath upgrades is also underway across a number of locations throughout the district.
