Kowhai Park temporarily closed

Wanganui District Council has closed Kowhai Park until further notice due to sewage leaking into the playground.

Property Manager Rowan McGregor said a sewer manhole popped due to a blockage, causing sewage to flow onto the playground area. Signs are being erected at the park to advise of the closure.

“At this stage we are not sure when the clean-up will start and how long it will take as it will depend on the weather,” Mr McGregor said.

The closure applies to all of Kowhai Park, not just the playground area.
