Come along to a Wikipedia edit-a-thon from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Sunday, November 15, get a free lunch, learn some new skills and help boost Whanganui’s reputation.
Wikipedia is a free, online encyclopedia which anyone can edit. It contains pages on Whanganui and the Whanganui River, but more content and editing is required.
Whanganui & Partners Innovation Leader Marianne Archibald says beginner editors are welcome and refreshments will be provided.
“Editing content on Wikipedia is a great way to learn a really important skill set for the digital era. More and more people want to find information about Whanganui and its history online, so this is your opportunity to contribute. Having up-to-date and informative Wikipedia pages is a great opportunity to increase the reputation of our district. And it’s free!”
The Wikipedia Edit-a-thon will be held at the newly relocated Alexander Heritage and Research Library at 60 Ridgway Street and is part of Whanganui River Week, which runs until November 15. For more information on Whanganui River Week, please visit its Facebook page.
