A new water main on Surrey Road, between Parsons Street and Chester Road, is being installed as part of the water network improvements programme.
To allow this work to take place, Surrey Road (between Parsons Street and Chester Road) will have lane closures from Monday, 23 February to Thursday, 30 April 2026 (weather dependent).
The work will be carried out in three stages. Detour routes will change depending on the stage of work.
Residents, businesses, emergency services, and recycling and rubbish collections will continue to have access.
Bus stops within the closure points on Surrey Road will be temporarily relocated to 3 Devon Road and 45 Devon Road.
Possible detour routes include:
- Parsons Street → Carlton Avenue Extension → Fitzherbert Avenue → Lincoln Road → Oxford Road → Surrey Road
- Durnham Road → Devon Road → Parsons Street → Lincoln Road → Oxford Road
- Oxford Road → Lincoln Road → Chester Road → Hereford Street → Durnham Road → Devon Road → Parsons Street → Surrey Road
