The Whanganui Alliance has performed well, completing all pre-surface repairs in 2025 and exceeding expectations with its reseal programme, achieving significant savings. As a result, an additional road – proposed to be No 2 Line – will be added to this year's programme. Water tabling and turfing have started in this area.
Work will begin this month on the final road rehabilitation project on Glasgow Street. Work is expected to begin on Monday, 9 February and is expected to take about four weeks to complete (weather dependent).
Ongoing rain events have heavily impacted rural roads, so there will be a strong focus on grading and metalling.
Pavement crew – focus areas:
- Longacre Road (forestry damage)
- Okoia Road
Sealing crews – completing reseals for the 2025–26 season on:
- No. 2 Line
- Marybank Road
- Roberts Avenue
- Victoria Avenue (night works)
