This month, the Whanganui Alliance will continue our emergency works across various parts of the network, with particular focus on:
- Mangamahu Road
- Parihauhau Road
- Whanganui River Road
The Alliance has performed well. It has completed over 27km of reseals, with 98 percent of the total programme finished by the beginning of January.
The Victoria Avenue reseal was also completed successfully this month, and all rehabilitation projects were completed earlier than expected, allowing the Alliance to undertake additional work across the network.
Given the heavy impact of February rain events, rural roads will receive a strong focus on grading and metalling.
Pavement crew – focus areas:
- Longacre Road (addressing forestry damage)
- Tokomaru West Road
- Whanganui River Road
Footpaths and cyclic maintenance:
- There will be a significant push to upgrade footpaths, with particular focus on the Fordell residential area.
