Under Section 11A of schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 1974, Whanganui District Council intends to close the following roads for the Wanganui Car Club 2026 motorsport events.
Period of intended closures:
- Pukerimu Sealed Hill Climb - 9.00am to 7.00pm, Saturday, 23 May 2026
Pukerimu Road from the intersection with State Highway 3 finishing 200m into the gravel road section – approximately 2 km
- Okoia Road Sealed Hill Climb - 9.00am to 7.00pm, Sunday, 24 May 2026
Okoia Road from the intersection of Okoia Road and Matarawa Valley Road finishing at the intersection of Okoia Road and No 2 Line – approximately 1.4 km
- Rangitatau East Road Gravel Hill Climb – 9.00am to 7.00pm, Saturday, 12 September 2026
Rangitatau East Road – 6.5 km starting outside 1740 Rangitatau East Road and finishing at 2366 Rangitatau East Road
- Western Line Sealed Hill Climb – 9.00am to 7.00pm, Saturday, 21 November 2026
Western Line from the railway crossing near 100 Western Line finishing between 311 and 351 Western Line – approximately 2.4 km
- Brunswick Road Sealed Hill Climb – 9.00am to 7.00pm, Sunday, 22 November 2026
Brunswick Road from 307 Brunswick Road finishing at the intersection of Brunswick and Blueskin Roads – approximately 3.5 km
During the intended closures, the Wanganui Car Club will allow controlled access.
