Everybody interested in the future of the arts and entertainment in Whanganui is welcome to attend a series of arts meetings in early 2015 to plan for the future. Whether you are involved in performing arts, literature, visual arts, events or education, we want to hear from you.
Wanganui District Council arts portfolio holder, Cr Helen Craig, and Wanganui District Council Arts Facilitator, Debbie Kapohe, will facilitate a series of hour-long meetings on various media.
The feedback from the meetings will contribute toward a review of the Whanganui Arts Policy 2008.
Questions will focus on whether participants think the goals of the arts community have been attained through the policy, how their organisations fit into the policy and what gaps or expectations need to be addressed in the future.
Wanganui District Council Arts Facilitator, Debbie Kapohe, says it is important to hear from a diverse range of individuals and groups.
“After these initial meetings, we will hold a full arts meeting on March 5 to discuss feedback and we are planning to have more get-togethers during the year so the arts community can tell us what is important to them and what they want to see happen in the future.”
Most of the meetings will be held at the Gonville Café Library, where participants are welcome to borrow books and buy a coffee and snacks if they wish.
