Under the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, the following roads will be closed for the 2026 Whanganui Vintage Weekend Events:
Drews Ave Street Party
8.00am to 8.00pm, Saturday, 17 January 2026
- Drews Avenue from Taupo Quay to Ridgway Street
- Rutland Street from Drews Avenue to NZ Glassworks Building
Riverside Shindig
9.00am to 9.00pm, Sunday, 18 January 2026
- Moutoa Quay from Drews Avenue to Taupo Quay
Plumber Dan Soap Box Derby
6.00am to 6.00pm, Monday, 19 January 2026
- Drews Avenue from Taupo Quay to Watt Street
- Watt Street from Drews Avenue to War Memorial Hall
- Pukenamu Drive from Drews Avenue to the Alexander Library
- Ridgway Street from Victoria Avenue to Market Place
During the closures, directional signs will be in place to show the alternative routes.
It will be an offence for any person other than those under the authority of an authorised permit to use these roads for ordinary vehicular traffic during the closures.
