Under Section 4 of the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, Whanganui District Council proposes to close the following roads for Whanganui Vintage Weekend Events 2026.
Period of proposed closures:
Drews Ave Street Party
8.00am to 8.00pm, Saturday, 17 January 2026
- Drews Avenue from Taupo Quay to Ridgway Street
- Rutland Street from Drews Avenue to NZ Glassworks Building
Riverside Shindig
9.00am to 9.00pm, Sunday, 18 January 2026
- Moutoa Quay from Drews Avenue to Taupo Quay
Plumber Dan Soap Box Derby
6.00am to 6.00pm, Monday, 19 January 2026
- Drews Avenue from Taupo Quay to Watt Street
- Watt Street from Drews Avenue to Whanganui War Memorial Centre
- Pukenamu Drive from Drews Avenue to the Alexander Library
- Ridgway Street from Victoria Avenue to Market Place
During the proposed closures, directional signs will be in place to show the alternative route.
Any person affected by the proposed closures who wishes to object must lodge in writing their objection including reasons by 5.00pm on Friday, 19 December 2025 to Melanie Francis, Customer Support Team Leader, at council customer services, 101 Guyton Street, Whanganui or by email.
