Whanganui Rural Community Board by-election official results

Official results are now available for the Whanganui Rural Community Board’s by-election to elect one member to the Board’s Whanganui subdivision.

Peter Oskam, with 169 votes, has been voted on to the Board as the second Whanganui subdivision member. (In the October 2019 Local Election, David Wells – as the only nomination – was elected unopposed to the Whanganui subdivision, which has two members.)

Peter Hackett, the other candidate for the vacant position, received 86 votes.

In total, 258 papers were received by Whanganui District Council’s Electoral Officer, Noeline Moosman, during the by-election.

The by-election was held by postal vote and closed at 12 noon on Tuesday, 18 February 2020.
