Current status

Emergency Management is currently closing Kowhai Park road closest to the Awa, after last night’s heavy rain.

The boardwalk is expected to be covered in water this morning.

The Awa is high but not likely to challenge any stock banks.

The Aramoho rowing club moved boats and equipment yesterday.

Road closures

The Raetihi-Pipiriki Road is CLOSED at Mangaeturoa North Road due to a tree and a slip. The council’s roading crew and a digger are on the job.

SH 4 Whanganui to Raetihi is CLOSED until further notice due to multiple slips.

Travel advice

Travellers are advised to check the MetService and Waka Kotahi NZTA sites ahead of time for any road closures and planned works.

We will provide updates on the Whanganui District Council Facebook page as they come to hand.
