Media release #1 Wanganui District weather event - 20 June 2015 9.25am

Due to the heavy rain we've had overnight, the Red Cross has evacuated some households in our urban area affected by flooding and slips. The forecast is heavy rain for the rest of today. There are also power outages in some parts of the urban area.

If there's a life threatening emergency, please call 111. If you are affected by floods or slips, call the Civil Defence Emergency Management team on 349 0001.

Please don’t go out unless you need to.

Roading update: State Highway 3 north is down to one lane and State Highway 3 south is open at this stage but may close. Whanganui River Road is closed.
