Apply for a rates rebate

If you’re applying for a rates rebate, you’ll need to bring proof of your gross income for the tax year 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.
(This year's rates newsletter had a small mix-up with the dates – above dates are correct)

On NZ Super? Bring your SuperGold card along.
Trouble booking online? Give us a call on 349 0001 and we’ll get you sorted.

The Rates Rebate Scheme provides a rebate of up to $805 for low income earners who were paying rates for the home in which they were living on 1 July 2025.

How is my rebate calculated?

Your rebate is calculated based on your income, rates and the number of dependants living with you.

If you are a SuperGold card holder (receiving the pension), the income eligibility for a rebate is $45,000.

If you are a non-SuperGold card holder, the income eligibility for a rebate is $32,210

However, if your income exceeds either of these amounts, you could still be entitled to a rebate depending on the total costs of your rates and the number of dependants.

Applications close on 30 June 2026.
