Durie Hill Elevator and its famous tunnel and viewing tower will be closed on all weekdays from Tuesday, 3 June to Friday, 13 June, for yearly scheduled maintenance – including electrical work, painting, safety certification and a full cable replacement.
Whanganui Connection will run a replacement shuttle each day of the closure, maintaining the regular weekday hours of 7:30am-6.00pm. The shuttle travels between each entrance (2 Blyth Street and 42 Anzac Parade). It takes bikes, and accepts cash, eftpos and your existing concession tickets. You can also call or text the shuttle ahead at 022 318 8537.
The elevator and tunnel will be open as usual on the weekend of June 7 and 8, but the Elevator Tower will remain closed. However, the War Memorial Tower will remain open throughout the closure.
