Whanganui District Council has received an application internally for a resource consent as described below. 

Description of application: 
To re-develop the Sarjeant Art Gallery located at Queens Park, Whanganui.

This work will include:

  • ​To alter a Class A heritage building; 
  • The addition of a new wing to a heritage building; 
  • To establish a café; 
  • To establish an additional 20 car parks at Queens Park; and 
  • To remove up to 10 protected trees. 

A full description of the proposal prepared by the applicant is included in the resource consent application and the application includes an assessment of environmental effects.
The application may be inspected at the Whanganui District Council offices, 101 Guyton Street, Whanganui, during usual office hours (8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday); or at the Davis Library and Gonville Cafe Library; or refer to the documents below.
