Rural Security Camera Fund

The Wanganui Rural Community Board has made funding available in the 2017/2018 year to support local people and organisations to set up security cameras to help prevent crime in the rural area.

Imagery captured from the camera are sent via the internet to a property with a recorder where several weeks of photos can be recorded at once. The information can then be shared with the Police in order to help reduce rural crime.

Before applying, please make sure you read the guidelines below.

Guidelines for Security Camera Funding Grants 2017/18

  1. Grant applications will be considered at the next appropriate Wanganui Rural Community Board (WRCB) meeting from the date the application is received.
  2. WRCB will assess and approve grant applications in the confidential section of its meeting.
  3. The amount funded per application will be at the discretion of the WRCB, with the indicative grant of $500 per camera.
  4. Once the grant application is approved, funds are available to be paid to a WRCB approved installer on receipt of an invoice for installation.
  5. This is a community project with funding supported by the Wanganui Rural Community Board. Ownership of the cameras remains with the community.

If you are successful your grant will be paid upon presentation of the invoice by the camera supplier.
