Tenders and Expressions of Interest

Local Library Hubs
Call for Expressions of Interest

Whanganui District Council aims to improve access to its Library service by establishing a number of Local Library Hubs over the next four years.

We would like to hear from any organisation or business in the Whanganui District that is interested in being part of this programme and hosting one of our new hubs.

What the library needs from a potential partner

  • Sufficient space to accommodate the library shelving and equipment.
  • Staff or volunteers able to provide basic assistance to library members on site.
  • A venue that is open to the public for at least four hours per day for at least four days per week.

What the library will supply

  • One self-issue and return station.
  • Sufficient library shelving to accommodate and display the books.
  • 1,200 to 1,600 fiction and non-fiction books from adult and children's collections.
  • One touch screen computer to enable people to join the library, search the collection, access their accounts, and reserve and renew books.
  • One Wi-Fi router to enable free access to the internet via the Library's Internet on Demand service.
  • Venue-appropriate furniture to enable library customers to sit, read, go online, or just chat.
  • Support and training for venue staff.
  • Regular replacement and re-circulation of stock by Library staff.

If your organisation or business would like to be part of this programme, please send an expression of interest, outlining how you will meet our basic requirements above, to Pete Gray, Manager – Libraries & Community, Whanganui District Council by 5.00pm on Friday, 28 September 2018.
