Roads update
Crews have been working hard to get road access open. However, although most roads now have access, there is a lot of silt and road conditions are slippery throughout the district. Motorists need to take care and be aware that more slips could come down in the coming days as the water soaks away.

Road situation as at 3.30pm Thursday, October 17:

Kauarapaoa Road - closed until Friday, October 18
Kainui Road - closed until Friday, October 18
Kaiwhaiki Road – partially closed (the majority of the road is open but there is a dropout towards the end of the road that is blocking access – care required for the remainder of the road)
Owhakura Road – closed (another large slip has come down on this road; hope to have it open on Friday, October 18)
Longacre Road - open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
Kaukatea Valley Road – open (reasonably good condition)
Makirikiri Valley Road – open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
Waireka Road - open (single lane – care required – slippery)
Papaiti Road - open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
Rangitatau East Road – open (reasonably good condition)
Ahu Ahu Valley Road – open (reasonably good condition)
Watershed Road- open (care required)
Whanganui River Road - open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
State Highway 4 – open (single lane – care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
Te Rimu Road - open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
Fields Track – open to light vehicles and locals only (closed to through traffic until the large dropout has been assessed)
Mangamahu Road - open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
Creek Road – open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
Mangawhero Road – open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
Junction Road - open (care required – lots of silt on the road – very slippery)
