Te Tuaiwi

This three-metre-wide sealed concrete pathway will provide a safe route across the Whanganui City Bridge, through town and past some of our central schools.

Te Tuaiwi connects with many of our existing pathways throughout the city and will give our children a safer route to school. It will also make it easier and safer for people to get around town on foot, bike, scooter or skateboard, or with mobility aids.

The final stage, which is expected to be completed in early October 2019, is being built alongside the rail line from Nelson Street to London Street (State Highway 3). A 1.2m high barrier fence is being built to separate the three-metre-wide concrete pathway from the railway line. This section is also having street lighting installed.
