Notice of intention to close roads - Targa Rally 2021

Pursuant to Section 4 of the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, Whanganui District Council intends to close the following roads for the Targa New Zealand 2021 Rally.

Period of intended closures

  • Bushy Park stage: 
  • Thursday, 28 October 2021 
  • 3.25pm to 7.55pm

Rangitatau East Road, from its intersection with Parao Road, right into Brunswick Road, past Tokomaru West Road, past Campbell Road, right into Western Line, left into Westmere Station Road, left into Lilybank Road, right into Blueskin Road, past Westmere Station Road, left into Kaikokopu Road, finishing on Kaikokopu Road 400 metres from its intersection with Savage Crescent at the start of the gravel section.

  • Fields Track stage: 
  • Friday, 29 October 2021 
  • 7.45am to 12.15pm

Fields Track 300 metres from its intersection with State Highway 4, past O’Neills Road, left into Whangaehu Valley Road at its intersection with Burma Hill Road, past Kainui Road, past Rangiora Road, past Owhakura Road, past Scotts Road, finishing Whangaehu Valley Road 1.5km from its intersection with Ngamokai Road near No.530 Whangaehu Valley Road.

During the intended closures, scheduled vehicle escorts will allow residents safe passage to their properties.

Any person affected by the intended closures who wishes to object must lodge in writing their objection including reasons by Thursday, 16 September 2021 to Melanie Francis, Compliance Team Leader, at Council Customer Services, 101 Guyton Street, Whanganui or by email.
