Whanganui District Council has approved the appointment of two new members to the Whanganui & Partners Board, taking the Board back to a full contingent.

In December 2018, Tania King resigned from the Whanganui & Partners Board and in April 2019 Jonathan Russell passed away. Both directorships have remained vacant since these respective dates.

The two newly appointed Board members are Anne-Marie Broughton and Gaelle Deighton.

Ms Broughton is a Whanganui resident with extensive experience in innovation, business development and growth. She has a wide array of governance experience and is currently also Chair of the Whenuakura Marae Committee. Ms Broughton also currently serves as kaiwhakahaere of Te Kaahui o Rauru Trust.

Ms Deighton currently resides in Auckland but has family connections in Whanganui. She is currently building a home in the city and looking forward to being a full-time resident soon. Ms Deighton brings with her a wealth of experience in economic development and an in-depth knowledge of central and local government processes and policies in economic development, employment and business development.

Myles Fothergill, Chair of Whanganui & Partners Board, says “It is fantastic to have a full complement again and Anne-Marie and Gaelle will bring a great balance to the Board. We are looking forward to having them join us to help grow the economic prosperity of Whanganui.”

The full Whanganui & Partners Board will meet on Tuesday 20 August.
