A network of local business organisations including Whanganui & Partners, the Whanganui Chamber of Commerce, Te Manu Atatū and Mainstreet Whanganui says the recent shift in COVID alert levels by the government is a good reminder to businesses to have their continuity plans in order.

“This is a good reminder that business conditions can change quickly, and it’s important for all businesses to develop plans that will keep their businesses operating under different scenarios,” the group said.

The group says that it’s also a good time for business owners to ensure they are receiving communication from Whanganui & Partners, membership organisations and industry bodies.

“When news or resources are made available, these organisations spread it among their networks. Sign up for their email newsletters, and follow them on social media to make sure you’re hearing about new developments as they happen.”

For businesses that need support now, the group recommends business owners register with the Regional Business Partner Network (RBP).

“The RBP is a national-level programme delivered locally by Whanganui & Partners that provides small businesses with the support they need to adapt and grow their businesses. For instance, there is funding available for businesses to get support developing a business continuity plan.”

“There is also funding available to engage professionals that might help action parts of a business continuity plan, for instance cashflow management or a strategy for getting your business set up for online sales,” the group says.
