Whanganui District Council will make its Land Information Memorandum (LIM) information available online from Monday, 1 July. This means people interested in buying a property in the Whanganui district will be able to apply for a LIM – which is a summary of the information the Council holds on a property – anywhere, anytime.

Once an application is submitted successfully, a LIM will be returned digitally within 10 working days.

Whanganui District Council LIMs Coordinator, Nadine McLeay, says people can now easily pay by debit or credit card when they make their application, rather than having to wait for payment confirmation from a cashier first.

Nadine McLeay says “going digital means we are now able to supply the entire property pack, which includes all the plans and consents we have for a property, along with the LIM report”.

“It’s really convenient for applicants because they will easily be able to share their digital LIM information with legal advisors and banks, for example.”

LIM applications will cost $250 and commercial LIM applications will cost $275, across the board. These fees are payable online at the application stage. Fees for LIMs were revised in the Council’s Annual Plan to make them consistent with other councils in the region.

Whanganui District Council Building Control Manager Greg Hoobin says, “We’re aware that not everyone is comfortable making a digital application, so people can get in touch with the Council and make an appointment with our LIMs Coordinator, who will guide you through the online application process.

“We’ve had really positive feedback from people who have been assisted with the process."
