Mayor expresses support for MSD staff

Mayor Annette Main has expressed her condolences to the community, the families and office of Ministry of Social Development (MSD) in Ashburton on the loss of their family members, friends and colleagues in the most tragic circumstances.

“I want to express my strong support for the team who work locally in the Whanganui office of MSD,” Mayor Main said.

“They work hard for people in our community when they need support at stressful times in their lives. They touch people’s lives and they make a real difference.

“The role they play is important to the general wellbeing of our community and they deserve to have the same expectations as we all do - that we will be free from intimidation as we go about our lives, whether at work or in other areas.

“We are a world accredited safe community; let's walk the talk and show our support for our local MSD staff who do a great job in our town.”
