For the 2023/24 financial year (starting in July 2023) the council is making a one-off rates remission (reduction) of up to $500 available for households facing a rates rise higher than $700.

Mayor Annette Main today said Wanganui District Council’s meeting to discuss the Annual Plan for 2014/15 will be adjourned early on Wednesday to allow representatives to attend the funeral for Alistair Polson.
The meeting, which starts at 9.00am on Wednesday, will adjourn at 2.30pm and will resume at 9.00am on Thursday. Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting in the Council Chamber at 101 Guyton Street.
