Proposed Development Contributions Policy

Whanganui District Council welcomes submissions during the public consultation of its Proposed Development Contributions Policy.

Whanganui District Council anticipates urban expansion and growth within the Springvale Urban and the Otamatea West areas of Whanganui and new developments will require significant investment in infrastructure.

We are seeking your views on a proposed development contribution policy which will provide the Council with a clear framework for recovering contributions to help meet the costs of capital expenditure necessary to service growth.

The introduction of a development contributions policy will:

  1. assist the Council with achieving greater accuracy in its planning for growth
  2. provide clarity and certainty for developers; and
  3. ensure contributions are fair, equitable and proportionate.

Public consultation for the proposed Development Contributions Policy opens on Friday 15 December 2017 and closes on 5 February 2018
